Discussions on the training of linguist-translators took place at Kazan Federal University.
Faculty and postgraduate students from the Department of Foreign Languages participated in the video forum of young researchers “Young Science in the Regions” on December 3, 2025. The Director of the Linguistics Department, O. V. Tomberg; the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, A. G. Kovaleva; and postgraduate students V. A. Radaeva and D. I. Zhukov joined the exchange of scientific knowledge in the fields of linguistics, translation studies, language education, language pedagogy, intercultural communication, and multilingualism. This was part of the work of the Consortium for Research and Educational Collaboration among Federal Universities in Applied Linguistics and Professional Pedagogy in the Context of Digitalization, titled “Digital Practices in Linguistics and Education.”
The video forum united faculty and young scientists from federal universities to discuss an integrative approach to translation in university translator training, methodological nuances in preparing senior bachelor’s and master’s students for interpreting, challenges in teaching students consecutive translation in the English-Russian language pair, experience in teaching practical English translation courses to Chinese students, and employment prospects for graduates of translation programs.
Participants of the video forum supported the latest approaches and methodologies for preparing future translators for professional work. Efforts to improve educational programs for linguists and translators will continue within the framework of the Consortium for Research and Educational Collaboration among Federal Universities in Applied Linguistics and Professional Pedagogy in the Context of Digitalization, “Digital Practices in Linguistics and Education.”
